Ocean Haven

Six Bedroom Oceanfront House, Located in Nags Head

We've been coming to the Outer Banks for 27 years, and this was our first attempt at September. This house is exactly what we were looking for. It's not glamorous, but it is more than acceptable. But it sits right on the beach. The pictures aren't quite accurate anymore. There are no more dunes (Hurricane Irene?). There is no walkway to the beach, and you aren't sitting on the dunes. You walk down the steps, and you're on the beach. Loved that! Maybe 150 feet to the water's edge. Beaches were fairly empty. The week was broken into two weather events. Sunday throuh Thursday was gorgeous...temps in the low 80's, water temp around 80. A storm front pushed through Thursday night, and today (Friday) is very windy, cold and ugly. Staying this way for the remainder of the weekend, so we'll probably head out a day early. Mosquitos early in the week were deadly!. When I tried to take out the trash, they SWARMED all over me. We had to use the car to take the trash down to the street. Better as the week went along. All in all, a very good week, and I would not hesitate to rent this house again. This was also our first shot at Nags Head (we did Avon for the first 10 years, and Corolla the past 16), and I would come here again.

Favorite Places to Visit or Eat: We ate at Pete's Pour House at MP 3.5. Food was good. But it is a great place to watch football. They have screens everywhere.
